Logistics Support Officer

 

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Logistics Support Officer to join our warehousing team. As a Logistics Support Officer, you will play a critical role in overseeing and coordinating various logistical activities within an organization. The primary role is to ensure the smooth flow of goods, services, and information from the point of origin to the point of consumption or use.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Supply Chain Management: Managing and optimizing the supply chain to ensure the timely delivery of goods and services. This includes inventory management, demand forecasting, and coordinating with suppliers and vendors.
  • Transportation Coordination: Arranging and monitoring transportation logistics, including shipping, freight forwarding, and tracking shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Inventory Control: Maintaining accurate inventory records, monitoring stock levels, conducting regular audits, and implementing strategies to minimize inventory holding costs and maximize efficiency.
  • Warehouse Management: Overseeing warehouse operations, including space utilization, organizing inventory, implementing safety protocols, and managing distribution and storage activities.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Ensuring proper documentation of all logistical activities, including purchase orders, shipping documents, customs clearance, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Vendor Management: Developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, evaluating vendor performance, and resolving any issues or disputes that may arise.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identifying potential risks and developing contingency plans to mitigate disruptions in the supply chain, such as natural disasters, labor strikes, or supplier bankruptcies.
  • Team Coordination: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including procurement, operations, and customer service, to streamline processes and improve overall efficiency.

Qualifications:

 

  • A bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is often preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with internal teams, external stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making. The ability to analyze complex information, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations for process improvement is highly valued.
  • Meticulousness in handling logistics documentation, ensuring accuracy in inventory management, and monitoring supply chain activities.
  • Familiarity with logistics software and systems such as warehouse management systems (WMS), enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, transportation management systems (TMS), and data analysis tools. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is often required.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced logistics environment.
  • Ability to identify and resolve logistics-related challenges, think critically, and make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Capabilities to work effectively in cross-functional teams, collaborate with various stakeholders, and build positive relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Understanding of relevant regulations and compliance requirements in logistics, such as customs, import/export laws, and transportation regulations.
